5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect transition from first book
Wow! I waited a long time for this sequel to come out. I finally was enlightened on what happened at the end of the first book. What a surprise. I thoroughly enjoyed this sequel. It was smooth sailing from the luxury yacht in the beginning, then through India, a little stint in Austria, and then back to the tour in the USA. Jeb and Neusy are working as hard as ever trying to keep the tour moving forward as they did in the first book. The Doctor is just as wacky and eccentric as ever, especially on his journey in India seeking his spiritual enlightenment. And the clones, they were a crazy twist, bordering on a sci-fi story, but still has the touring about with the rock band with the original group of characters that kept me laughing throughout this new book. Scaggz was still up to his old tricks, continuing with the grim murders. This book was well written and maybe even flowed better than the first book. I want to spoil the plot for other readers, so I will keep that to myself. I hope these guys write a third book, I'm starting to really enjoy these authors.
5.0 out of 5 stars Madness Unleashed
"Tones, Clones and Bones" is a drop into the chaotic world of rock and roll touring. Jeb and Neusy are trying to navigate the storm, but it's the eccentric Doctor who keeps the chaos running. The tour doesn't just go off the rails; it feels like it was never on them to begin with.
There's satire here, but you also get the sense that they've lived through half of this madness. I couldn't hold back the laughter, even when the story veered into full-on weirdness. The pace is fast, with dialogue that snaps. A wild ride that doesn't just show you the madness - it makes you feel like you're living it.
If you're into rock 'n' roll, crazy drama, and a whole lot of sarcasm, then this book is your jam! So, Jeb and Neusy—who barely survived their last tour full of murders—decide, "Hey, let's do it again!" This time, they’re hitting the road with the legendary (and super arrogant) guitarist, “the Doctor” Jurgen Weislangwolf, whose ego is as big as, well, the tour bus. It’s like Spinal Tap meets a murder mystery, with a side of an ex-stage manager who’s out for blood. The whole thing is pure fiction, but it’s got enough satire and rock tour chaos to keep you hooked. If you're a fan of dark humor and backstage mayhem, this one's a must-read!
5.0 out of 5 stars Extremely funny! Great read for musicians and non-musicians.
After Tim Dorsey passed away last year, I was very sad that I lost my favorite dark-humor author. I discovered Agins and Niepert and started reading their books. I must say these two guys are turning out to be my new favorite authors. Being a musician myself, I can relate to their crazy stories. Especially when I recollect the days when my band was opening for Van Halen in Hollywood. I highly recommend both of their books, Are We A Bus? and Tones, Clones, and Bones. If you like rock and roll, these books will have you rolling in laughs.
A fun read. I love the way the author combines humor and a reasonable amount of sarcasm with his storytelling. Highly imaginative and highly recommended. Read the book.
4.0 out of 5 stars Funny with well developed characters
An uproarious journey through the wild world of rock and roll touring! This book vividly captures the highs and lows of life on the road with humor and satire. The dynamic duo, Jeb and Neusy, navigate the unpredictable challenges of touring with well-developed, quirky characters and sharp jokes. While the many twists and turns can be a bit confusing, the charm and comedic elements made this an engaging and enjoyable read.
